New Donkey Charity App Release

British tech entrepreneur Rob Clegg has announced the launch of a new animal charity app. The app will support Moroccan donkey and mule charity Jarjeer Mules and will be released in June 2020. The charity app will make it easier than ever to connect with and support the donkeys in the sanctuary. The free app will aim to make it easier to support the work of Jarjeer Mules, which is a retirement home for working donkeys in Marrakesh.

In Morocco, working donkeys and mules have less rights compared to the working horses, who are all owned by the King and have to have regular health checks. Helping them falls on local charities like Jarjeer Mules. These smaller organisations often get overlooked and find it hard to meet their high running costs. Rob Clegg, who is a HSBC boss and businessman with a background in Fintech, identified the opportunity for the organisation to raise the funding it needs to continue its good work.

About the new app Robert Clegg said:

'This app will support the vision and the mission behind Jarjeer Mules but to also make a world of difference to the local working animals. You will get to see the donkeys you support with photos and videos that are unique to the app. Everything raised will go to feeding and caring for them.'

Jarjer Mules serves as a retirement home, care centre, and family for them along the High Atlas foothills near Marrakech. Set in a pictureque land of 6 hectares, the Jarjeer community was developed by Susan who runs it with her husband. Aside from their commitment to preserving the landscape in the locality and the way of life of the village which is steeped in traditions. They are passionate about helping animals, especially donkeys and mules who spend their life helping people.

Susan Machin, founder of Jarjeer Mules, said:

'This is a great idea to not only support the donkeys and mules in our sanctuary. They are beautiful and animals have unique personalities, and the app will let people see that and follow their lives. Our monthly running costs are over ?10,000 and so this really important and will help us carry on going.'

Caring for the old, disabled, and abused donkeys and mules are the main goals of the sanctuary. However, their work does not stop there. They have also been actively working with the local people and offering the necessary support not just to the sanctuary's equines but also to the members of the local community who want to know more about better equine care.

The new app will be available to download free from the App Store and Google Play, and available for both iOS and Android from the end of June.
